Radio Zürisee Rapperswil

Together with Radio Zürisee, Susanne Fritz Architekten developed a spatial concept that incorporates all functions and processes of the hybrid use of the former dance hall as a studio loft/show kitchen/concert stage/eventspace. The project fulfils the media-technological and design requirements of an ultra-modern, profitable and high-profile enterprise.

Modern radio is a technically and electronically highly complex media centre, which now also presents itself visually to listeners through streaming technology: A multifunctional radio loft was equipped with noise-sensitive cameras that intelligently accompany the presenters. The times of the small broadcasting cell are therefore passé: the radio loft is designed as a large, inviting living room that contains two broadcasting centres, a stage, kitchen and lounge and also serves as a place to stay for coffee breaks and staff lunches as well as for interviews and performances. Two acoustically isolated broadcast studios were integrated in the middle of the studio loft. In just a few steps, the Studioloft can be transformed into a conference or event space: the spacious Radio Zürisee hall can be rented for private and corporate events for up to 60 people and, if desired, you can experience first-hand how radio is made.

The history of the building was taken into account by integrating new interpretations of historical design elements, such as herringbone parquet flooring, wall friezes and chandeliers. Classic furniture was combined with extravagant eye-catchers, such as the swan chair, which consists of numerous small plush swans and provides a cosy base for interviews. The swan chair as well as the lamp made of ostrich feathers are not only the statement of a conversation-grown interior concept, but also always provide a good introduction to a conversation.
