Apartments Schweizerische Bodensee-Schifffahrt AG, Romanshorn

The Schweizerische Bodensee-Schifffahrt AG commissioned Susanne Fritz Architekten to design flats for the staff in a historic transit post building. The old transit post office was completely renovated by Schweizerische Bodensee-Schifffahrt in 2011. The ground floor houses offices and meeting rooms as well as the HAFEN restaurant designed by Susanne Fritz Architekten.

Personnel apartments are were built on the upper floor, some of which have a panoramic view of the lake.

There are 3 types of flats, for singles, couples and a shared flat.

The flats are rented with all fixtures and fully furnished. When designing the interiors, attention was paid to high-quality materials and functional furnishings, such as custom-made sofa beds, textile floor coverings and tiles in the bathroom. Furthermore, additional storage space is guaranteed by adjoining rooms in the attic.

As this is a listed building, special consideration was given to the existing structure and the material and colour concept was chosen accordingly. As an example, the ceiling remains open to reveal the view of the old structure and to make optimal use of the generous room height. The exposed wooden beams, complemented by contemporary, tasteful interior design, mirror the balance between old and new.

One of the central aspects of realising this project was that the values of the employer are reflected in the architecture.
