Renovation of Pelago nursing home

The Pelago nursing home in Rorschacherberg offers space for elderly people of various care levels. The dementia ward is located on the second floor. The existing accommodation consisted mainly of double rooms sharing a bathroom and one six-bed room. The beds were not being used to capacity. By converting the six-bed room into five attractive single rooms with bathrooms and a new material and color concept, Susanne Fritz Architekten was able to achieve full occupancy within four months. All materials are easy to clean and suitable for the healthcare sector, yet have a friendly look and feel. As the ceiling is a frequently viewed perspective from the bed, the lighting was designed to be glare-free and the ceilings became eye-catching thanks to a graphic design.
